What to Expect From Your First Brazilian Waxing Appointment

Whether you're prepping for your first Brazilian wax or just looking to understand what actually happens, this page is here to explain the process without sugarcoating it. At our studio in St. Cloud, we’ve walked hundreds of clients through first-time nerves, questions about hair length, and what’s considered “normal” post-wax. Brazilian waxing can feel intimidating if you’ve never done it, especially when it comes to pain, privacy, or how much to undress. Below, we break it down clearly, so you know what to expect before you’re on the table.

What Brazilian Waxing Really Means

Short answer? It’s the whole damn thing, front, back, and everything in between. But don’t worry, you’ve got options. Full removal? Cool. Prefer to leave a little something? Also cool. A Brazilian wax takes care of the bikini line, full genitals, and between the booty cheeks using skin-friendly products and solid technique (none of that hack-job stuff). It’s quick, clean, and done in a private space with zero pressure or weirdness. Just smooth skin and a solid “hell yes” from your reflection.

One of the biggest myths out there? That waxing is just for women. Nope. Not even close. We see all kinds of bodies at Haus of Wax, and our service menu reflects that, no outdated “men’s” or “women’s” categories here. We stick to medically accurate, gender-neutral language, because
body waxing should feel safe, not awkward.

If you’re new to waxing (or just curious how the hell it all works), we’ll walk you through everything with zero awkwardness and adjust based on your comfort and preferences. And if you’re wondering whether your skin is even a good fit for waxing right now, check out our section on
who should hit pause and why; it’s all laid out clearly.

Brazilian waxing removes hair from the entire pubic region, including a palm-width down the inner thighs, and between the butt cheeks. Some clients choose to leave a shape in front, like a strip or triangle. Lots of clients go completely bare. The amount of hair removed or left behind is completely up to you and what you feel comfortable with! Bikini waxing, on the other hand, only covers the leg crease/bikini line and a strip off the top of the pubic mound if you choose. This service cleans up what is visible outside of standard underwear. It’s not about choosing “more” or “less,” it’s about what feels right for your body and comfort level. If you’re weighing this against your usual razor, head to our section on waxing vs shaving, or check out Brazilian waxing for everybody if you're wondering how we make this service accessible for plus-sized and LGBTQ+ clients.

Waxing vs Shaving: Why St. Cloud Clients Keep Making the Switch

In St. Cloud, many clients come to waxing after trying shaving, epilation, or even laser and realizing those methods don’t always hold up long term. Shaving might be convenient, but it often leads to irritation, stubble, and daily upkeep, especially during warmer months when you're constantly in shorts or at the lake. Laser can reduce hair density, but it’s not ideal for every skin or hair type, and it doesn’t guarantee total hair removal. Waxing tends to offer smoother regrowth, longer-lasting results, and fewer appointments over time, which makes it an easy fit for people managing real schedules. If you're figuring out how to time your wax with trips, events, or seasons, head to our section on seasonal waxing tips, or if you’re brand new, you might want to see what first-timers should actually expect.

Can Waxing Affect Tattoos, Scars, or Piercings?

If you’ve ever wondered whether if you should not wax because it can mess with your tattoo, irritate a scar, or tug at your belly button ring, you’re not alone. Plenty of clients bring this up, especially when they’re working with sensitive skin zones or have had a rough healing experience in the past. Waxing over tattooed skin is generally safe once it’s fully healed (think 6 to 8 weeks minimum), but fresh ink, raised scar tissue, or newly pierced areas need extra caution. Scar tissue can be more fragile than it looks, and even a healed piercing might have sensitivity depending on the angle and placement. Your esthetician will assess the area and may skip or modify sections near healing sites to avoid trauma. If you’re navigating multiple skin concerns, meds, or healing timelines, our section on whether waxing is safe in special cases can help you decide what’s worth flagging.

Brazilian Waxing Questions You’re Too Embarrassed to Google (But Definitely Still Want Answers To)

These are the ones we actually get asked in the wax room. You know, the ones you blurt out mid-strip, whisper during intake, or think about five seconds before your appointment starts. Don’t worry. No question is too weird, too honest, or too late.

Still have questions? You can find more answers here. We’ve probably already answered it somewhere. And if not, just ask. Nothing’s off limits.

  • Yep, just pop in a clean tampon or menstrual cup and give us a heads-up. We’ll work around it, no big deal. You might be a little more sensitive, but we’ve done this a thousand times; it’s nothing new.

  • A few pinpoint spots of blood are totally normal. Especially if it’s your first time or the hair is coarse. We’ve got wipes, we’ve got gloves, and we’re not phased. It's not likely you'll even notice.

  • You’ll be undressed from the waist down, but we’re not here to make it weird. We talk you through the whole process so nothing feels like a surprise.

  • Absolutely not. We don’t care how you look, how hairy you are, how long it’s been since you last shaved or waxed, or what’s going on with your bits. We’ve seen it all. This is a judgment-free, body-positive zone.

  • The wax itself? About 10–15 minutes. Most of your appointment is spent chatting, and the time will fly by. We’re quick, but never rushed.
